Attempting

Dear Blog,
I know I have continually neglected you through the years, but I still love you. I have tried countless times to revive my passion of for you but I become discouraged as I attempt to write an entry and decide to read other blogs. I can't promise that this will become an everyday thing, but if you are patient perhaps I can slowly build my passion back.
Yours truly,

Allyson

Alright so I am attempting a small entry tonight while Cesar is gone working till midnight tonight. (I can never sleep 1. if he is gone and 2. if he falls asleep before I do. I'm strange I know). I only have an hour left until he is home so I figured it may just be enough time for me to come up with something to post. I have been thinking of posting my rambling ideas for girls camp on here but for now I will settle on showing you one of my first attempts to be crafty.
I got the idea HERE at House of Smiths:

Super cute right? That's what I thought too. So I set out to make my own. I had a set of plastic containers that we got as a wedding gift so I decided to give it a shot... and here are my results. Please forgive me for my lame pictures. I am no budding photographer :)

Ta-da! I have to admit I am pretty proud of the way they turned out.

One last thing. Can I just admit to how much I LOVE being a mom? This little boy has me hooked heart and soul. I honestly could not imagine life without him. I am so grateful that Heavenly Father has blessed me to be able to be a mother. I am grateful for His gospel and knowing is His plan. I love knowing that if I am true and faithful I may live with Him and my family for time and all eternity. I could ask for no greater gift.

Good night world and until next time!

Maddux is already taking after his Daddy by falling asleep after watching Sports Center re-runs. I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship :o)

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July! What a wonderful day to reflect on all that we have been blessed with for living in this country. I am so grateful that we our able to worship our Heavenly Father freely. As Cesar and I sat in front of the Idaho Falls Temple to watch the fireworks that celebrate our freedom I was overwhelmed with the feeling of how much our Father in Heaven loves us and has a plan for us.
I am also so grateful for all of those who have served and those who are serving our country. I am grateful for Dallas and Trevor Abrams who will be leaving to serve in Iraq this coming September. I am humbled by their sacrifice to leave their families to serve. I want them both to know that their families will be blessed and both Cesar and I will watch over them. We love you both. Please return home safely!

During the afternoon on Saturday, Cesar and I had the opportunity to go to a family party for his cousins daughters 1st birthday. It was a fun to see his family and to eat yummy Mexican food!
After the party I asked Cesar to take me on a tour of Shelley where he spent a lot of his growing up years. He took me by his old house and the houses of his friends. My favorite part of the tour was when he took me to his High School. In the back near the football field, was a shed that he helped design and build in High School.

There is even a little graffiti on the building, marking his spot in history.

Now I am a bad wife and didn't take pictures of the other buildings he helped design. Hopefully I will redeem myself and get pictures the next time we are in Shelley, but if you ever happen to be in Shelley and go to the North Bingham County park you will see the barn and the store he helped design. I was very impressed!
